North Korea Starts to Line Up Tough Friendlies

(left PRK coach Kim Jong-Hun – tactical genius)
North Korea is beginning to emerge from the shadows with games lined up against fellow World Cup qualifiers Chile and Mexico on the horizon. Stay posted for these results as they are the first indication of how The Chollima is likely to fare in South Africa. The PRK’s most recent friendly against Austrian outfit SV Mattersburg ended in a 3-2 win. Goals at last. Coach Kim Jong-Hun is known to be developing the “fast break” strategy for netting at least one win in the first round of play. His thinking must be along the lines of a win over Ivory Coast and a tie with Portugal. That should be enough for the last sixteen. The media speculation around North Korea replacing him as coach seems to have abated. Reports coming from inside the country indicate social unrest is on the rise due to a devaluation of North Korea’s currency. Any coach taking the job in Pyongyang may have trouble getting a check in the mail. The regime will be desperate for a successful World Cup to stop the internal political wobble.
